RGL Safety & Resilience
Another full-on week, and another reminder of just how varied (and rewarding) this work can be.After Monday’s admin day, Tuesday was spent ploughing through risk assessments, mixed with some deep dives into PUWER and LOLER regulations. That led to the discovery of a required amendment to current clinical practice within a frontline emergency service — and the need to develop training to support that change.A long, demanding day, but one that perfectly demonstrates the real value of regular risk assessment reviews. They’re not paperwork exercises — they genuinely drive safer systems, better practice, and better outcomes. The rest of the week shifted into training, across two very different classrooms. I had a wonderful two days at Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington, where their commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of both staff and guests was genuinely clear.First aid and fire safety training now complete for new duty managers and staff — a brilliant team and a great environment to work in.Thursday afternoon saw me in Brockenhurst, delivering AED pads and carrying out AED rescue-ready checks — small tasks that make a huge difference when they’re needed most.Friday took me further up the county on behalf of MS Associates (Safety) Ltd, delivering a Qualsafe blended Emergency First Aid at Work course in a rather chilly workshop. All experienced first aiders on their 3-year requalification — and interestingly, relatives of my very first managers in the ambulance service. Back when it was Hampshire Ambulance Service, and I was a 21-year-old brand-new starter finding my feet in the job.🫀 The week finished in the best possible way — delivering and installing a @WEL Medical Ltd - SP1 AED, meeting the team, and providing basic CPR training and AED familiarisation. Always one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.Busy. Tiring. But thoroughly rewarding — the kind of week that reminds you why this work matters.Onwards into the next one 💪#HealthAndSafety#RiskAssessment#FirstAidTraining#WorkplaceSafety#EmergencyPreparedness#AED ...
